Import – Export Manager
Purpose of the position: To oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s import and export operations, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods across international borders while supporting business growth and customer satisfaction.
Main Task:
Manage end-to-end import processes, including purchase order follow-up, shipment planning, customs documentation and clearance.
Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders and customs brokers to secure timely and cost-efficient inbound deliveries.
Ensure accurate HS code classification and correct application of duties, taxes and trade agreements.
Monitor and optimize inbound logistics costs, including freight, customs, insurance and handling charges.
Oversee export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, export declarations).
Ensure compliance with EU export regulations, embargoes, and destination country requirements.
Collaborate with warehouses, logistics teams and transport partners to ensure efficient outbound delivery.
Maintain strict control over customer-specific compliance needs (Incoterms, special certifications, labeling etc.).
Ensure alignment with customs, trade compliance and international transport regulations.
Liaise with customs authorities and government bodies to resolve issues, audits or inspections.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in customs law, tariff schedules, import/export controls and documentation requirements. Develop KPIs for shipment accuracy, lead times, cost performance and compliance indicators.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and reduce operational cost.
Manage and update the company’s database for customs records, shipment tracking and reporting.
Collaborate with Finance to validate invoices, allocate costs and support budgeting efforts.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum 5 years of experience in import/export operations, ideally in a multinational or high-volume environment.
Deep knowledge of customs procedures, international trade regulations, HS codes and Incoterms.
Experience collaborating with freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines and transport companies.
Strong analytical mindset with proven ability to manage complex documentation and multiple workflows.
Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
High proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (Navision, SAP or similar).
Fluency in English; additional languages will be considered an asset.
